Gaming to Engage the Healthcare Consumer

This ICF International white paper examines the growing trend of gamification in the healthcare industry. Topics include:
▪ Healthcare gaming examples
▪ Key market drivers
▪ Gaming trends in achieving healthier populations

Health-related apps are rising in popularity, and customers crave more than affordable healthcare: They want training simulations and telehealth tools to motivate them to meet their fitness goals.
Gamification—the application of game elements and digital game design techniques to common business dilemmas and social challenges—has long been in use by the U.S. military, the airline industry, and even higher education institutions. However, the healthcare industry is just starting to follow suit.

Un article très intéressant permettant de voir dans quelles mesures, les jeux peuvent être considérés comme des « objets d’apprentissage ».

This film examines a fundamental human experience and key component of connected learning, 'play,' and explores whether it has been underestimated and whether, as a state of being, it holds answers for the reimagining of education.

The film asks:
‘Might we have underestimated the value of ‘play’?’
‘How would your life look if seen through a playful state of mind?’
‘Might confidence sit at the heart of an extraordinary education?’
'Might a playful frame of mind stand to transform the experience of education?'

7 Reasons Why Kids Should Play Video Games

Conventional wisdom suggests that time spent playing video games is time wasted. The common perception is that few video games exercise the brain and, if there is any physical activity involved, it's usually the occasional wave of a controller rather than anything that will work up a sweat. And shouldn't kids be outside playing, rather than sitting in front of yet another screen?

There are good reasons why  kids should spend a few hours a week building cities or battling aliens.

Here's why:

1. Video games teach problem solving
2. Video games are social
3. Video games provide positive reinforcement
4. Video games teach strategic thinking
5. Video games build teamwork
